Daisy, played by actress Charlotte Jordan, first arrived in Weatherfield in 2020 but has now officially said goodbye to the Cobbles
Coronation Street fans said they were ‘obsessed’ as they witnessed Daisy Midgeley’s ‘perfect’ exit, with the character leaving the cobbles the same as when they first met her four years ago.
Daisy, played by actress Charlotte Jordan, first arrived in Weatherfield in 2020. She came to stay at the Rovers Return pub, reuniting with step-mother Jenny Connor some years after they last saw each other, but it didn’t take long for Daisy to ruffle feathers and create enemies on the Street.
But after a recent whirlwind of drama involving a secret pregnancy, catfishing, and tangled romances, Daisy is ready to embark on a new chapter on the other side of the world, leaving a void in the heart of Weatherfield and devastation in her wake.
Announcing her plans to depart the cobbles earlier this year, actress Charlotte said she was leaving the show in January “to start a new chapter and explore other opportunities”.
She’s since said of her exit: “I think it’s very bittersweet for Daisy to be leaving. “Weatherfield has been her home for a while now and, early on, was giving her all the things she wanted – family, community, stability, people to love more than she perhaps loves herself – but it’s also been the source of so much trauma for her.”
The soap star, who previously starred in Netflix series Free Rein, went on: “As for me, I’m feeling really grateful for my years on the show and the people I’ve gotten to work with.
“Producer Kate [Brooks] has been so supportive about me wanting to go back out into the audition circuit and very generous with Daisy’s exit story, as she really wanted to do the character justice.”
She added of Corrie: “It’s a very special building, and I have loved it. And it’s just goodbye for now, not goodbye forever.”
During the last visit to Weatherfield of the week on Friday (May 2) Daisy was seen packing up, with Jenny hoping of a change of heart. “It’s only Brighton, to start with anyway,” she said. She went on to have a heart-to-heart with Ryan Connor, in which she apologised ‘for everything’.
Daisy’s biggest heartbreak, however, was when she went to say goodbye to Bertie Osbourne, and to clear the air with her angry former fiancé, Daniel Osbourne. Jenny once again tried to change her mind, but Daisy’s decision was made.
However, shortly after, the penny dropped for both Jenny and Christina as it became clear Daisy had run off with the money Jenny thought she was investing in catfisher ‘Dom’.
As she jumped into her taxi, the car started to pull away down the cobbles when Daniel emerged. She stopped and gave him time to talk, but with her mum, Christina Boyd, on her case, she made a hasty exit.
But she tried to make amends, leaving letters for a number of people on the Street with money and gifts for each of them, including Kit Green, who she left with a drink on her, and Daniel, who was being sent to Disneyland Paris with Bertie.
However, Jenny was dealt one last blow as Daisy left her nothing, just a goodbye note. Then, in one last twist, it was revealed that it wasn’t Brighton she was heading for, as she was seen checking her flights from Manchester to Bali, before asking the taxi driver to ‘turn up’ M People’s popular track, Movin’ On Up.
Following Daisy’s final scenes, Corrie fans have been quick to flock to social media to have their say. @camjmes0 said: “Perfect episode for Daisy’s exit. Bravo all! #Corrie.” @Sophie_Davisx commented: “Daisy Midgeley, what an iconic exit!! Still fuming they got rid of her #Corrie.”
