Easter weekend: What’s open and closed in Regina?

With a sunny stretch of weather on the horizon, Regina residents are set to enjoy their Easter long weekend.

Those looking for something fun to do over the next three days can find a list here of five things happening in Regina from April 18 to 20.

The following is a quick list featuring some of the services and attractions that will be open or closed across the city on Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday.

Transit:

Transit: Bus routes on Friday will operate on a Sunday schedule, with regular service returning Monday. Check TransitLive for information on specific routes.

Paratransit: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, back to regular hours on Monday.

City parking metres will not be in effect on Friday or Monday.

City facilities:

Landfill: closed Friday and Sunday, but open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Monday.

Household hazardous waste material depot: closed Friday, Sunday and Monday.

Sandra Schmirler Leisure Centre: closed Friday and Sunday; open noon to 8 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Monday.

Northwest Leisure Centre: closed Friday and Sunday; open noon to 8 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Monday.

Fieldhouse & Lawson Aquatic Centre: open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and Monday, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Regina Public Library: all branches will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday.

Murray and Tor Hill golf courses: Driving ranges at both courses open for the season on Friday.

Attractions:

Royal Saskatchewan Museum: open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

MacKenzie Art Gallery: closed Sunday and Monday.

Slate Art Gallery: closed Sunday and Monday.

RCMP Heritage Centre: open Monday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Government House: open regular hours, with a free Easter egg hunt on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.

Science Centre: open noon to 6 p.m. Friday to Monday.

Floral Conservatory: open noon to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, and 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday.

Malls:

Southland Mall, Northgate Mall, Cornwall Centre, Victoria Square Shopping Centre: all open noon to 5 p.m. on Friday and closed Sunday.

Services:

Most banks will be closed Friday or Monday or both. Check with your financial institution to be sure.

Government and civic offices will be closed Friday and Monday, reopening Tuesday. Easter Monday is considered a federal statutory holiday, so Canada Post will not be delivering mail Friday or Monday.

Some grocery stores will have reduced hours on the holiday Friday and Monday, including Safeway, Sobeys and Co-op food stores.

City garbage and food waste pick-ups will be on schedule as usual.
