The BBC has announced that the semi-finals of Gladiators will be delayed until Saturday, April 5, in order to make way for a major schedule change on Saturday night
In a significant reshuffle of its planned programming, the BBC has decided to postpone the popular Saturday night spectacle Gladiators to make way for an alternative sporting event. This means that viewers will have to wait until Saturday, April 5, to watch the semi-finals of the Gladiators’ reboot.
Nevertheless, fans can still enjoy their usual dose of The Weakest Link, Casualty, and Dope Girls. There was drama last weekend when Gladiators aficionados were left fuming as one contender was expelled from the semi-finals over a “controversial” action. The incident unfolded on screen with referee Mark Clattenburg halting the proceedings with his whistle after witnessing the illegal manoeuvre.

A voiceover then posed the question: “The whistle stops the run and this is Mark’s decision. Did Joe F jump or was he pushed out of the Gauntlet?”
Despite the setback, Joe took the disqualification in good spirits, joking that it might have been a blessing in disguise: “Sometimes these decisions don’t go your way and he’s probably saved me from another big guy at the end I could do without meeting.”
This coming Saturday, March 29, BBC One will be trading its typical early evening lineup to broadcast the FA Cup quarter-final clash between Brighton and Hove Albion and Nottingham Forest.
Live coverage is set to kick off at 5pm on BBC One and iPlayer, with the regular schedule picking back up at 7:30pm for the BBC News.
Since its long-awaited return to BBC screens, Gladiators has been providing non-stop thrills for viewers, displaying fierce competitions between its contestants and the show’s legendary athletes.
Earlier this month, Gladiators faced another clash due to a schedule change. Gladiators, a primetime favourite, was moved due to the Six Nations rugby tournament taking over its usual slot, meaning both shows aired at the same time.
The BBC programme is known for its thrilling contests and dramatic moments, with viewers tuning in each week to watch the famous Gladiators compete against ordinary contestants in a series of physical challenges.
The show has a loyal fanbase, and its sudden schedule change had left many fans upset.
The clash with ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent, which also has a huge following, has sparked frustration among viewers who had to choose between the two shows.
