Man Kills Newborn Puppies In Gated Society In Hyderabad

Hyderabad: In a shocking act of animal cruelty, a man allegedly killed six-day-old stray puppies by smashing them against a wall and further crushing them under his feet inside the cellar of a gated community in Hyderabad. The incident has left the community in shock.
The gruesome episode occurred at Indis VB City, a gated society in Macha Bolaram. According to residents, the accused, Ashish, a businessman and resident of the society, killed five puppies in the early hours of April 14. The footage shows him entering the cellar around 1.20 am, where he located the newborn puppies and hurled them against the wall. As some of them were still alive, he allegedly crushed their heads with his foot and struck them with a brick to ensure they were dead.
The residents discovered the puppies’ scattered remains on Tuesday and reviewed CCTV footage to find out what had happened. Shocked and outraged after seeing the footage, they confronted Ashish and later approached Deccan Chronicle to highlight the incident while filing a police complaint.
Sattar Khan, a resident, said, “Ashish has often been seen harassing stray dogs, throwing stones at them and beating them with sticks.” He added, “When we questioned him, he admitted to killing the puppies because he hated strays. He apologised for what he had done.” According to the residents, a stray dog that frequently roams the society had given birth to five puppies ten days ago. Ashish allegedly targeted the pups after noticing them in the cellar.
Aruna, another resident, said, “Ashish and his wife, who own a golden retriever and care for it well, were shocked when we confronted them. We were surprised to learn that his wife, who is pregnant, was unaware of the horrific act committed by her husband,” adding, “This man must be punished. His actions should serve as a warning to others who harm strays. The police must act swiftly.”
Mudavath Preethi, an animal welfare worker, said, “Such sadistic acts against strays are on the rise. Strict punishment must be imposed to deter such cruelty.” Alwal police station SHO Rahul Dev confirmed that a complaint had been received. “A case will be registered based on the complaint. Further investigation will follow,” he said.
